I've been looking at this on and off and my conclusion is the new logo is just a bit naff - I would've expected a design with some sophistication.

I'm also somewhat surprised at the trite promotional messages used on the revamped web site:
DSP7200 - Latest wonder speaker
Systems - Music and movies, to suit all tastes
Unique Loudspeakers - Active and Digital
Digital Loudspeakers - System in a box
800 Series - the ultimate (Oh dear!)

Meridian's promotional material always had a somewhat arrogant tone-of-voice which really worked with the brand's values and technology, however I detect a move to language usage with more than a soupscon of mass-market about it.

Ramblings ...

Pity Meridian didn't do a tie up with Porsche instead of Ferrari. They could have had special RS signature editions of their products.

High-fidelity Distilled, huh?

count me in the other camp, mark. i think the logo update is stupendous:

[Linked Image from Meridian.co.uk]

always felt the old one was, as the brits would say, "twice too cute":

[Linked Image from Meridian-audio.com]

with the(C) slotted in the empty space (ugh - please) and the insistence on getting their names on the top. much crisper, more modern typeface - nice.

their website however is still a serious charlie-foxtrot.

doody.

Well I like the old one (ugh please) or not. Its all a matter of taste; but I do know things have to move on and be refreshed.

I am sure that if I had a nice new set of DSP 5200's with the new logo, I would grow to love it. (Who wouldn't)
They both look "Naff" in the post above, out of context, so to speak. But on a product They will look fab.

At Thruxton race track they had a New Lambourghini in "Lime Green"!!!
It should have looked Hideous, in pictures it looks terrible IMHO, but in real life, in the flesh ,it is nothing short off Beautifull!!!

In the end, its about the sound, they could use a kids print set for all I care as long as it sounds good. Form and Function etc.

Enough rambling now, Cheers, Chris smile

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

I think it's rather a shame that their names are now missing, but I suppose "Boothroyd Stuart & Muse Investment Group" would look a bit crowded!

I agree with Mark and find the new typeface rather dowdy...the sloping M looks a bit incongruous now. It's not as if they are unaware of such design detail; the old London Transport font used for the F80's clock is a delightful touch, very much in keeping with the golden era of radio so fondly remembered by Bob!

Cheers

The old logo was more distinctive in character and the Boothroyd Stuart names did say something about the company. The new logo could be for anything. It needed to have wit, style and appropriateness like the design of the F80.

Having seen the brand positioning doc, you can't fault them for not having thought about it though...

I think one of the old Metz logos was very similar though I can't seem to find an instance of it on the web.

Would the removal of Boothroyd Stuart be a subtle signal that they are considering walking discretely backwards towards the fire exit while baby M is left holding dear Uncle Muse's hand?

That it's a hi-fi company's logo is purely coincidental, but this is quite possibly one of my favourite logos of all time:

It's really stood the test of time. Still contemporary - and it must be over 35 years old.

I get the feeling that Uncle Bob is as involved as ever. Not sure about Uncle Allan.

I like the old one - not least because my name is prominently displayed on the front of 8 boxes in my living room ;-)
