For anyone following the stories in this thread I'll provide my update.

After multiple emails and several letters to Paypal I received their reply which basically stated that I wasn't covered by the Seller Protection Policy and that their letter was final.

I received this letter 8 days after the 'debt' had been passed to their recovery company, Intrum Justitia (confirmed in the first call of many by Intrum), so they had no intention of listening to my side of the story and providing any customer support.

I have since passed everything to the Financial Ombusdsman stating that I do not believe that I should be held accountable for a Paypal user having his/her account details stolen and used (seems to me like they are trying to get me to pay for their site security issues).

To say I am cheesed off is an understatement as this has been going on since April but according to several other stories that is but a moment of time. I will keep you all updated.
