Hey Frank,

Ya gotta love Salamander's Synergy modular AV furniture. In preparation for our new son's arrival last Fall, we too purchased a Synergy system- a Quad(!)30 rack with locking wire mesh doors for our living room M set-up. The stuff is surprisingly solid when assembled, looks great, and you can pretty much create anything you need with their Lego-style building blocks. The 3/4" thick laminate MDF shelves are pleasingly dead (much more so than the thin shelving of the ubiquitous Target or Sound Org racking) and if you take your time, you can get the individually adjustable shelves dead level with the aid of a carpenter's level and some curse words. Yeah I miss spike-coupled shelving but the rack still manage to not put my delicate audiophile sensibilities too far out of joint. laugh

This 7' long monster comfortably houses a heap 'o gear. There is the living room AV system of 596, 504, 565, 562.3, HD cable box, sat box, Pioneer plasma media box, and an Xbox 360. In addition there is a 541, 557, and 505 which power a 2nd zone Trifield speaker arrangement on our deck. Finally there is 4 media drawers that accommodate about 300 movies (in retail packaging). Believe it or not there is still an empty space or two left. This rack is reminiscent of an open ocean passenger ferry in its ability to swallow gear! BTW- the locking doors have proven to be invaluable. Our toddler is an inquisitive soul!

Though not the cutting edge of audiophilic rack design, I'd still highly recommend Synergy to other North American HitchHikers.

Happy Trails!
