This was actually on the production line when I visited Huntingdon a couple of weeks ago so looked ready to ship in numbers, I was asked not to mention it until it went public.

Did you see the HDMI/MHR solution in production as well and were asked not to comment on it until it goes public?

Cool, Now its Public do you know any more, ie does it have HDMI?

Is it supposed to sound better than the F80 as it costs more?

What is its role in the Meridian Line up?

Cheers, Chris smile

The Dunhill was the only thing I saw apart from the 7200 centre, sure there was a secret squirrel bit that I did not see. No sign of any HDMI. Tried to get an answer about upgrading the G68 but did not get very far. From what I could surmise my expectation is that there is unlikely to be a direct upgrade for the G68 but there will be an external box of some type. Suspect they are also trying to find a way of splitting the audio component out of Bluray.

The Dunhill appears to be in line with the focus on product placement. I believe one of the new investors is a film director and has or is hoping to place Meridian kit as a centre of a movie, something along the lines that girl friend sells guys M kit on eBay, big bust up, happy ending and she buys him even better M kit to make up for it. This may be an existing movie, we always have to wait so long in UK for releases.

So, is the Ferrari composite not so essential after all?

I'd have to agree on the design. Now I haven't seen it IRL but from the small thumbnails I'm a bit skeptic to the design...

When talking "luxury" in a non sporty way I think this is more like what I imagine it should be..

Interesting to see the i-dock included. Still waiting on the i80 for the F80. I wonder if this will bring an F88 on board too, with integrated iDock.

The price worried me a little although hopefully is just the cost of the trees and hand lacquer. I can visualise people in the factory getting RSI in their 'lacquer wrist.'

Im still hanging out for the i80, which I was hoping to come in around 150-170 but, according to my dealer, his record is still stuck at availability at end of the month and price is rumoured to be around 200 which is disappointing and would push the ball back into the SB3 court.

As for software update for F80, it will apparently be available on CD (even though mother said that a special lead was necessary) and an alternative colour matched cover for the i80 would be an accessory - hopefully that is a free accessory.

It may still have the composite - just not in the same shape! wink

It doesn't look as exciting as the F80 but maybe the F80 was just too radical for the traditional Dunhill purchaser.

M is certainly branching out - bring on the F90 with wifi & HDMI!

The Steinway Lyngdorf looks very classy (as does the F80 IMO).

In a CineNow interview re F80 (the link was posted re discussion of 7200 and 808.2) I think there were references to rolling out the product over the world and then introducing a high res version. I have also heard that the coloured cover would be included in the price.

What a pity that Meridian are being forced to shack up with dubious brands where the USP is the high cost/exclusivity rather than AV performance. Is this a devaluation of the currency? And why Dunghill, a smoking brand?

What are the performance issues of connecting via a dock or via a cable?
