I have one zone of my Sonos feeding directly into a pair of 8000s. Coax digital out of a Sonos ZP80, music ripped to FLAC served by a Buffalo Linkstation. ZP80 set to fixed output so input to 8000s should look bit-perfect to the CD transport. I'm perfectly happy with the setup, but haven't done any blind comparisons...
Then again, I was always happy using a 500 transport as my source, maybe I'm not too critical...
With the Sonos I can play around with off-line software room correction (i.e., make "room corrected" versions of the FLAC files) if I ever get around to it...
