HI all.
I just bought the 'Bruce Springsteen' 'Live in Dublin' DVD.

What a great disc it is too. Shame I cant watch it on my 596 as the Menu does not Highlight and respond.
This is not a problem on the F80 (And probably any other DVD player in the world, although I havn't tried them all).

Has anyone any idea as to how I can correct this?
Has anyone else had this problem, or similar, if so, what did you do?
Could it be a faulty disc?
Should I give the mothership a call about it?

Thanks in advance, Perplexed,. Chris smile

There was a menu problem on the 596 with early releases of firmware. You put a disc in and there was no cursor on the menu screens. What firmware are you running?

Also, try using the Fnc & # keys to get straight to the tracks/chapters etc. The OSD should come up and show you where you are.

I really enjoy this disc btw

Thanks Guys,

Malcolm, I have the very Latest Firmware, which is why I am Puzzled.

All other discs so far have worked fine.

Nick, I will try that again more carefully to see if I can get a reliable way in. It really is a great disc though.............

Any more idea's out there?

Cheers, Chris smile

P.S. I have found that if after the non-responsive menu appears I press Stop once and then Press Play, I get the main show. Phew!!!!

To select audio options I can Toggle between them with Fn and Play as normal.
I cannot as yet work out how to get a Track list to select individual tracks from, or access to the extra's content.
At least I am ahead, Anyone else with this issue?

P.S P.S. Some of you 596 owners may now get this disc just to try it out. Wish I was on some sort of Commission.lol Chris smile

The story so Far; I Emailed Meridian, They replied the next day with a a clarification question, which I answered.
They replied again the next day with a suggestion on set up. "Use Auto not PAL or NTSC".
This made no differance.

I offered to loan the DVD to help get the problem sorted, this they accepted as a help, so I have sent it off.
I await developments.

My Point; Where else would you get this kind of service on a problem with a product that is no longer made and for all intent and purpose is obsolete by todays standard. (Still a Top notch CD Player though)IMHO

I have found when contacting companies by Email, that adding your full Name Address and Phone Number, has the effect of the best ones taking you seriously.
Meridian Are at the Top of the Best Ones List IMHO.
Cheers, Chris smile

OK, Meridian Have had the disc and confirmed it works on everything except the 596 and 598.
They wanted confirmation of my Firmware and are working on it.

To be continued..................

Cheers, Chris smile

You've had better luck than me. Admittedly in my case the disc was an off air recording from Freeview (I think poor reception being the source of the problem), but I had no response to an email on the issue, and have had no response when I sent the disc in with a covering letter, either.

OK, Meridian Have had the disc and sent me a reply.

Dear Chris,

Thanks for the email. I will be returning your disc this week. We are looking at whether the latest software we have for a different drive DRL200 instead of the 720 will allow you to navigate this disc, but cannot guarantee it. There are very few discs that are region 0 and most have the potential to cause problems in certainareas.

Best regards
