Hey George,

No reason why Shawn's 3x SPDIF board wouldn't work provided that the player in question decodes the HD audio codecs internally and passes the multi-channel out on HDMI as PCM. Insofar as why the PS3 is a nonstarter- Google "PS3 disassembly". The PS3 case is crammed! I doubt you could fit a housefly inside a PS3 chassis much less an additional circuit board! The PS3's other drawback is the racket it makes. Any sonic benefits of a hi-res digitally connected PS3 would be soundly drowned out by its fan. laugh I just purchased 35' pairs of Blue Jeans HDMI and Toslink cables to move my PS3 and equally noisy Xbox 360 off the gear rack and into my an adjacent closet!

Happy Trails!

I sent a quick message to Switch-Box guys and nobody has done a blu-ray box yet. Just because a SPDIF driver board exists for this don't assume a unit that has Analog outputs is doable. Some of theses companies are well aware of this sort of attempt and use highly integrated chips, multi layer boards, PGAs, Expoxied Pins etc. and it can very very difficult to find the point to tap. I bought the Panasonic thinking I might be able to do this but it looked way to hard. I posted pictures quite a whil back on it. Space is the least of your problems because you can always go external.

So I think it's a bit misleading to think you can just send a BD player to Switch-box and have it modded. It has not been done yet.

To give you one example there are cases where for example some graphics cards used in certified HT PC's that have built in decoding can detect current changes between chips in case anyone tries to tap into the Video stream.

I'm not even sure anyone has done an HD-DVD player. You may be the first for Switch-Box to even attempt it?
