I think he has the audio go through Audio Processor and Video processor. That way the Video can take all the time it wants in processing as long as it delays the audio (passing through) by the same amount.

Right- but if the VP automatically delays the audio by 35ms- whats the difference if the setting is user adjustable or automatically set?
best regards, Jerry

Are you asking whether the video processor could have an adjustable delay? Well, it could, but should it? It's a video processor after all...
The reason this is happening now is HDMI, which carries the audio and video. Typically the source only has one HDMI output so you cannot independently route video to the video processor and audio to the audio processor it must instead be sent through all parts of the chain.
Right now we use coax to avoid the problem but if we want the lossless codecs we will eventually have to deal with HDMI and the issue we are discussing.

ahh- see I think its a desirable feature for a VP to offer. Afterall playback at 24hz and 60hz will have subtle lip sync differences. Anyway we've now exhausted this. Loving my "new" theater!
Best regards Jerry.
Btw- on a lark I fired up van halen's "unchained" album- it used to sound all wrong- now its just fantastic. The energy of eddies guitar eslecially on mean streets is amazing. Also listened to the new maroon5- wow! Sounds great.
