One correction after rereading message, hoping to have it by end of year.

OK a somewhat illogical problem! Just tried to download firmware release 1.4 for my G68 and am unable to run the MFUP file as it cannot recognise a contact with anything. The USB connection must be working as it allows a fetch from the G68 into Mconfig!!! so it knows the G68 exists. I have tried to 'force' the download by starting without trying to ID the unit ie I can see the G68 and 1.4 ID in the program box but it just hangs. Anyone else had this problem or better still any ideas how to get around it? I have to say that I NEVER had any problems with communications using the old serial port

I rebooted and disabled all the unnecessary programs (like virus protection, wireless connections ...) running on startup so just the basics were running. I then tried MConfig uploading my existing setup file with a similar result.

Another reboot and retry and MConfig produces the following message immediately you click on "Store G68XXV Settings" on the breadcrumb trail (you don't have to click Start):

"Access Violation 059a01a [trans_func=00427c40][error reading ffffffff]"

It never did this before. mad Fortunately my system still works OK (I think) but I can't update it by PC. Can you roll back MConfig?

Rodders,

As you can see from my previous post, I sort of had the opposite problem. You were using WinFup and not the DOS Fupload, I assume. Dave Hall and Co. are looking at this for me at the moment. Meanwhile, I borrowed a WinXp laptop and MConfig works fine via the old COM1 serial port.

Yes I followed the update procedure ticking the required items (after disabling antivirus) and eveything seemed to download. It was only when I tried to subsequently update the G68 by retrieving MFUP that the problem arose. I wonder if this is a Vista problem then if you managed to upload with XP? I am using Vista home premium.

For those at Meridian reading these comments here's a thought....

Why not put firmware upgrades on to a small mass storage USB device that would be specific to the item being upgraded and was therefore guaranteed to work when plugged into the USB connection at the rear of the unit! I and no doubt many others would be prepared to pay a small sum to cover the cost of the device and it would eliminate many of the issues highlighted in this thread

This is what I did. Hope it helps you.

1: Download the latest Meridian Flash Uploader and firmware.

2: Connect speaker to PC with null modem cable & RS-232-USB converter (if needed).

3: Click on the file box with 3 dots, to the left of the start box.

4: At the bottom click on the "Files of type" box. select "Meridian Firmware Package Files (*.mfp).

5: Select the appropriate .mfp file and open.

6: Click Start.

7. When finished turn off speaker, then back on.

8. Retype/configure speakers.

Hi,

I have a quuestion regarding the validity of an mfp file for firmware 2.5b9 for the 568.2.

The file in question is TYPES568.MFU. When writing this file to the 568, a message pops up saying it is not designed for the 568 and any attempts to write this file may render the 568 inoperable.

Has anyone else had this particular problem with their 568.2?

I have sent a message to Meridian support asking for their opinion and awaiting their reply.

Thanks
Mark.

I updated firmware on my 8k's a couple of days ago. No issues loading, retyped and all working well.

Intuition suggests that the presentation is slightly different. Impossible to compare once uploaded for obvious reasons.

Running with MRC bypassed my initial thought is that bass is a tad tighter and the overall sound is slightly brighter. I have no idea what actual changes to the X-over profiles have been made in the new firmware, but, it's all souning mighty nice.

Re-running MRC with new config app was also without any issue. SNR was around 48-51 across all 5 channels. L&R are using 6 & 7 filters at auto target of 351ms for my room which is similar to previous runs. I'm not expecting a change in X-over profiles to impact MRC as the room hasn't changes (except for the Xmas tree !!).

All-in-all would suggest updating the DSP f/w to be a good move (albeit without really knowing why)

Has anyone else noticed that the 861 DSP firmware does not appear to be as recent as that for the G68 (and G61R)?

G68 v1.4 DSP versions:

C00052.mfu
D84053.mfu
E00011.mfu
F84053.mfu

861 v4.25 DSP versions:

C00051.mfu
D84050.mfu
E00011.mfu
F84053.mfu

I noticed that G68 v1.4 had a DTS decoder fix. I wonder if the 861 could do with it as well?

Do they have a new firmware for DSP7000s?. My 7k is only 8 months old.
