And M has been so quiet for so long it's obvious (to me) that there must be quite a few things in the pipeline. Or none. Or an F90 with WiFi, F100 with iPod dock ...

What about plans to upgrade the current range of speakers (or release new) with ethernet ports. I'm thinking flexibility of installation and power over ethernet. Power over Ethernet for what? You don't have enough power to drive the amps with that; so the DSP loudspeakers are going to need a wall outlet anyway. Now it's possible that DC from PoE could provide a "cleaner" power source for the DAC stage and possibly the DSP stages. But that's about it. Unless I've missed something with your question. Also, I will rehash one question, can we please get a definitive answer, yes or no, will Meridian release the G46 (or a variation) and in-wall DSP 300 series and in-wall sub. PS. JK, how's the job front? Thanks for asking. Still looking; but I have one spot that I'm waiting on word for after 2 interviews and another interview on Friday. I'm hoping I'm working right around the CEDIA timeframe. Thankfully I'm not quite in dire straights yet

Well, at the risk of asking that which will not be answered (a.k.a. 'Meridian does not comment on new prodcts'):
1. Any upgrade (v5) path defined for 800? 2. Any upgrade (v5) path defined for 861 - HDMI, 7.1 analog input, HD audio codecs. 3. Anamorphic option for MF1 4. G series HDDVD/Bluray player, please! Pretty please!
Thx John!

Use an Airport Express (toslink out) or Apple TV - it solves all this. Sadly limited iTunes, but good enough for networked music and web radio (in iTunes compatible format like MP3 or AAC). Apples iPod dock let's you take the (analogue) signal from the bottom of the iPod, which is much better than the minijack output. So you don't really need Ms iPod dock...

Would M care to comment on rumours of sale of the company/change of ownership? I expect not, but one can only ask...

But in the tradition of answering you might be right: no answer. If they do not know yet if they will do something with HDMI on a 861 it might take a long time before we get this possibility..

The previous, essentially, "no comment" answers to questions from this forum's members appear to have turned even us enthusiasts into cynics. I really think Meridian have shot themselves in the foot by hiding behind the commercial confidentiality excuse to the extent they have.
There is much they could indicate to us about their future direction without giving specific details but the conclusion that they are driving us to is that they don't have a strategic plan except for the F80 departure.
To use the motor industry analogy, BMW announce well in advance when a new model is coming out and what it will do better than the old model. They closely guard photos of the actual design, however, as this is their intellectual property.

Pretty much the same:
I'm still at version 2.X 861 ... While I desire the room correction, the upgrade is failry costly and Meridian is slow to come out with upgrades. I keep withholding investing more into Meridian, however, ultimately I would like a DD True HD and DTS Master HD playback cpability, and I would have liked it a while back. I'm going to be evaluating the competitions audio processers and may abandon Meridian. I need to look at the Dolby digital Lake correction system, Tact, and the others...
In any case, it is obvious Bluray is the winner and is here to stay, so I'd like not to be the last one with Bluray support, DD True HD, and DTS Master HD. I think Meridian needs to do something very soon, its really getting old being the last person to get everything. This stuff costs too much to be disappointed...
I assume since there is already a ton of DSP power with the Version 4 861, that DD True HD and DTS Master HD will mostly be a software upgrade, and I assume an HDMI 1.3 card... I'd still like to know the plan for decoding DD True HD and DTS Master HD... Are Bluray players like Pioneer, the PS3, etc... are they decoding the DD True HD and DTS master HD internally to PCM and then out via HDMI to the 861? Any advantage to sending the undecoded bitstream via HDMI 1.3 to the 861 vs getting the decoded PCM from a PS3?

I apologize if my comments have steered some subsequent posts away from the real purpose of this thread. I have had some important HDMI questions answered by JRS in the past (or answered by not being answered!). For instance, we know that the 861 and G68 processors are architecturally capable of eight-channel inputs. We also know that, as long as the HDMI metadata is handled correctly by a video processor (for instance), Meridian does not need to get at the HDMI stream first. Very very important pieces of information. My point is that for the last few Q&A sessions, we've got nothing from Meridian in terms of strategic direction, potential products, and timescales. Meridian is going to have to learn that if it wants to be a financially successful company, good communication (without revealing its secrets) is essential. And that doesn't mean announcing withy intentions which don't come to fruition. Hence my suggestion that JRS or even John Bamford does some of the talking rather than decline to answer many of our questions. But I'm not interested in a propaganda message similar to that we got on Hiker's day. Do they think *we* are stupid? Edit: Here's the 2007 CES thread. https://www.meridianunplugged.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=49935#Post49935

I'd like to see the 568.2 incorporated into the latest config program so I don't have to use two different ones to set up my system.
Not sure this is practical and/or possible but it would certainly be convenient. I'm assuming there's a large number of us using a "legacy" controller with newer kit.
Cheers,
Ed.

Despite the product information sheet still showing the G95 as being capable of playing DVD-A, what was the reason behind omitting DVD-A capability from the final production version of the G95?
A simple explanation from Meridian employees that I came into contact with - other than an unconvincing and evasive 'it doesn't do DVD-A' - would have persuaded me to stay with Meridian (the DVD-A playback capability of the G95 was such a big issue for me).
With some record companies currently (re)releasing DVD-A material, would a relatively simple firmware upgrade allow DVD-A playback on the G95 - or is it simply not possible with the current on-board electronics?
