First if you're gonna spend the bucks on DSP8000's that automatically puts you in a certain budget class.
So if you gonna bother with spending these kinda bucks on speakers why not get your money's worth out of them for a realitively small incremental cost.
If you do want to strictly stay 2 channel then a G91 isn't a bad choice. Except you do loose out on Room Correction. In general the more ooooph a speaker or sub has the more likely MRC can help you. But be warned that Meridian Room Correction is very fussy to tune.
You can cleanup your low frequencies with placement and room treatment etc. but that takes quite a bit of experience and can lead to a fair bit of cash too.
A lot of us love what Meridian can do with 2 channel sources on a multi-channel setup. You need a processor for that as well. The G91 is a processor too, but a fairly dumb one.
Even with 2 channels you'd probably get more out of a G68 and a cheapo transport than a G91.
Once you have a G68 with 5 speakers (even modest ones) you'll understand why.
