As a dealer who was very familiar with the 500 series I can tell you emphatically that the 598 via .MM yielded silence from 1 out of every 15-20 DVDs. I actually had to hook up the additional coax digital out just to avoid embarrassing demos to clients... Not trying to be negative, just tellin' it like it is (or was, rather)  I must admit there were some issues with earlier firmware but for the last few years I have had no problems at all with smartlink (mm on the 568 with a 598dp). M did eventually fix the bugs that caused no sound. The problems were with the 598 firmware.
