chris - I agree the player prices will have to come down for HD-disk to make ubiquitous status, ensuring long term survival. Probably in the $200-$300 range at least (most). Unfortunately, I don't think you could give the players away under the present format split, since that same customer has no confidence in the software purchases. And knows full well, that's the biggest part of his/her cost no matter what the player costs.

The enthusiast crowd is probably in good shape for a couple of years. At least we have that going...

tommy - I don't see any change - prices on average are virtually identical between the formats. (with the HD-DVD dual disk versions being a little higher)
