Has anyone here on the forum played the Beatles Love DVD-A on their 800? My 800 has always been a bit twitchy at playing DVD-Audio, and with the Beatles album it is pausing (for a second or so) at each track change. Since this album has a lot of 'medleys', the pauses are quite annooying.

I suppose it is possible there is something amiss with the disc, so before I go to the trouble of having M look at my player i wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience with 800.

thanks!

Simon

Simon,

I've played this album several times on my 800D player without any issues, plays seamlessly.

If your 800 is twitchy as you call it on DVD-A, try unplugging the unit from the mains overnight.

I had a problem with my 800 intermittently crashing and unplugging overnight fixed the problem.

My 800v4 does the same thing. As it does with DSOTM. Of course playing as DVD-V not DVD-A would work seamlessly I guess (it does on the MAC).

When I asked someone at the HH day I was given a "disc authoring problem" answer. I also noticed that at Bristol when M demonstrated LOVE they stopped it just before the first track change.

Maybe a firmware update has changed things, I know I'm at least 1 behind the latest. Or maybe it's part of the v1 - v3/v4 upgrade process which isn't quite 100% of a current player.

regards

Chris

Both discs play fine for me. It might be worth it to reset the 800 and 861 by turning them off and on.

I was hoping from the title of the thread that you were saying the Beatles love DVD-A and would release their entire catalog in DVD-A! (HINT HINT POWERS THAT BE AT THE MOTHERSHIP... I know, you would probably like that as well smile )

best regards,
Jerry

Jerry:

Yeah, sorry! Wouldn't that be wonderful!

I have tried turning both unit on and off - makes no difference. I suspect that if some are having my problem and others not that I am going to need a firmward upgrade.

Reminds me that I have to purloin my Dad's original Beatles vinyl. I know he's definitely got A Hard Day's Night and Sergeant Pepper...

I have a problem playing Love on my G91. Won't play 2 ch. Only surround. Only the two front channels are heard. Switching to sourround>front only in surround mode doesn't help either. Had this problem with Porcupine Tree Stupid Dream, too. No such problem with my trusty old Pioneer DV-565 (but it only puts out 48/16 in MLP, but 48/24 in PCM mode, which is invisible on G91...)
Great new forum look, btw!
