Hi, I have G68 controller, Aragon 2007 amplifier, and M&K speakers. I mainly use my system for movies. I was thinking to upgrade my Amp. to Krell kav3250(1), and kav2250(2). Could anyone give me some suggestion, if Krell or other amplifiers is match for Meridian G68? Thanks.

FWIW, I have been using a Meridian 558.2 amplifier with a Meridian 861 pre/pro and M&K S-95/S-85 speakers and have been very happy with the combination.

Aragon makes awesome amps, as well as Krell and Meridian. If your looking for a serious change in sound, I'd consider DSP speakers or different analog speakers.
There is no really right or wrong match to the preamp unless one was wildly out of the norm. If anything it's of a match of speakers and amps more so than preamps and amps.

I use a pair of Krell 3250 amps (with 861) and have been very happy with them. Certainly justifies Krell's reputation for great bass.
But, I agree with the other posts that just about any good quality amp will work (had adcoms before the Krells and they worked fine also).
Incidentally, the only compatibility problem I ever had was with an Aragon 8003 which did not like the active feedback system used by my Infinity speakers.

I don't know of any Krell amp that doesn't run hot since I believe they are all Class A designs. They are designed this way, very simple, very inefficient, very clean.

I used Aragon amps myself and stepped up now to McIntosh MC501 monoblockas for the fronts and two Mc402's for the surrounds.
I wouldn't setp u to Krell as I thnink that the difference between Aragon and Krell is not very big (they are both designs from the same man).

I used a Proceed HPA3 with my 861 and was very impressed with it.

Thanks all of you guys for advice. Simon, Does the Krell Amp. runs pretty hot? Thanks. They do get pretty warm, but not hot! Not as bad as some of the really big Krells.

Don't know what it would cost you to go Krell, but my guess it would be a decent outlay for marginal, at best, improvement. Particularly in that your focus is HT.

Don't know what it would cost you to go Krell, but my guess it would be a decent outlay for marginal, at best, improvement. Particularly in that your focus is HT. I went Krell because my focus is music! Why go Meridian if you simply want to watch movies - surely Sony will suffice for that. I figure that my system gets used 80% for music and 20% for movies. And your comment about marginal improvment, while certainly true, is central to the debate over spending $$$ on hi-end audio (or hi-end anything for that matter). Why spend for 861 when it is only marginally better than G68; why buy $20,000 speakers when they are only marginally better than $5,000 speakers? The answer is a personal one - is all about value for money and what makes personal choices unique to each of us. For me spending more for a Krell over say, an adcom (excellent amps in ther own right), is worth the marginal improvment; where it may not for you. Plus the KAV 3250 amps look really cool

I use my G68 only for movies(tone deaf)with a Plinius Odeon and Focal-JMlab speakers and the combo is sensational. Clarity of dialog from the center channel plus tons of power without harshness are what I wanted.
