Nick, I'd be interested in getting your feedback on the SB+. You currently run a SB3 don't you?

I emailed Patrick Dixon and the SB+ (digital only) sells for 800, seems a bargain..

thanks,
Tim

When you gave up the 598 in favor of the squeezebox, did you give up DVD-A? I am in a simalar position deciding if I want to have a Meridian transport.

Brad,

FWIW 1 - I still use my 598 for DVD-V and DVD-A. However, it is very very rare that I put a CD into it.

FWIW 2 - the performance of the 598 on both DVD formats is still tremendous

Tim,
Yes, I am using SB3 currently and the price of the SB+ is really quite paletable (relative to most things owned on this forum wink ).

I'll report back when I have it for sure.

Rgds,
Nick

Nick,

I assume your 598 has SDI after those comments. Because any modern DVD player with SDI or HDMI will do quite a bit better than 598 Component output. Adding SDI to 598 made a huge improvement.

I gave up my 598 and DVD-A for a PS3. I didn't care for PS3 for CD because I didn't like having to turn on the TV to browse CD's. I was planning on an HD-DVD player to serve as a replacement CD player but tried the SqueezeBox 3 first.

I've been so happy with Blu-Ray PS3 and SqueezeBox I have not been tempted to buy the HD-DVD player. Yet any way.

I'm still waiting/hoping Ron will bring over his XA2.
