I seem to recall that the G68 has (dependant on model) hardware for additional 2 digital channels (A/B) and unbalanced analogue LZ/RZ. Also some 'infererence' to height in a future version. G68 user manual - Specifications pg 4 *A/B: Subs if two or three subs are used. Optional ceiling speakers with future software update. †LZ/RZ: May be chosen to be any pair from: Main L/R, Centre/Sub, Sides, Rears, Subs. Note: Current software supports a maximum of eight outputs. Future software will support up to 12.

10 channels might also accommodate biamping/multiamping of a 5.1 system with appropriate software.

Kal:
Well ok, but if it's just straight biamp'ing; then you can easily accomplish that with a "Y" cable...
If it's active multi-amping that has limitations as well, as you are fixed with 1 crossover point for the system.

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit but I have been looking at the best way to bi-amp using the XLR outputs from my 861. Would a straight Y cable as John suggests be the best solution ?. I have heard that I may need to lift the ground to one of the power amps - is this true ?. Some people have also said that a transformer based solution is prefereable - does anyone have any experience of this ?.
Back on topic, when I bought my 861 it came with a page of stickers to stick on the output ports to be able to identify the connections. I will try and dig them out but IIR it had stickers for about 20 channels - height channels included.
I suspect that height along with many other channels have been in the minds of engineers for ages its just that there is no suitable source for this information. Perhaps with suitable material we will see the implementation of these channels sooner rather than later (I wonder if the current MRC DSPs can handle the extra channels ?).
Cheers,
Tony.
