Are you certain that this "device" is valid for copy-protected HDMI audio? If so then I think that any manufacturer is on dodgy ground. Even more so if the device outputs hi-res PCM that is not encrypted in any way. If the device works only for audio without the copy-protection flags then it is next to useless. Also, only six channels are of any use to Meridian processor owners at the present time.

They tap immediately before the DACs inside the player. Although this amounts to the same thing, I'm pretty certain this is completely legal. TBH, I'm really not sure who copy protection is really aimed at. Professional thieves fund the specialized equipment they need, so is it really targetted at the common home user to stop illegal file sharing over the internet?

VK- Bingo. All this nonsense about no 1080P analog out because of pirates is pure unadulterated rubbish. In the end I think the anti piracy measures fail our enthusiast common sense but are there more because the industry wants to set a precedent that they don't allow copies whenever possible so they can get the strongest legal remedies. From that perspective this is common sense.
None the less, if I could get the high res digital audio out of my HDDVD+BRD- Id love that!

I have to close this thread.
I can't allow this site to be used to facilitate this project.
If it did work it would only give Meridian less incentive to build a legal solution.
Sorry, take it some where else please.
