By going through Meridian etc you are just doing the dealer's job for him. If you bought a bad projector from Sony would you go to Sony to solve the problem? Deal with the dealer.

He probably would deal with Sony, since they will have the projector picked up at his house and serviced in Texas.

But anyway, as I said before, with Meridian you're paying a premium and for that premium the dealer should solve the problem. If the projector and processor was sold with the claim that it would work with a constant height setup, then either the dealer and/or Meridian lied about it. In any case, you should be able to get your money back. The system is simply not performing the way you were told it would. The one thing you shouldn't do is simply sit back and eat up the costs.

Ok guy- Since now even my dealer has not returned my calls since Friday- As of 10 minutes ago dez is STILL waiting to talk Bob Stuart- I am going to call my lawyer today- I am a very easy going guy - but i guess customer problems are really not a priority to M- I must say that this is the last M product I will buy- - the total lack of responsibility right down the entire chain of command is very disheartening- I had hoped for an easy solution but I guess M and my dealer does not want to face the issue- thanks for the help- I will keep you guys informed on the next show ( feels like a soap opera on TV)=gary

I really hope you find a resolution to your problem ASAP.

Actually malibu systems is one of the largest M dealers in the country- they are not on the dealer list because they do only custom hi-end installs-
The reason I went with them is because all the dealers in my area that I contacted did not really have a clue as to what I was talking about and again they came highly rec.-
anyway I just spoke to mark kovall at M since Norm did not pick up my call- They are looking into it and there take is that technically the 2.35 setup was never OFFICIALLY released so that I can not say it does not work since it isnt set up OFFICIALLY to do 2.35- I told that is a bunch of bull as we all know that it was planned and a firmware update is all it would take to the processor( which is what I got and it did not work)- I just do not understand why they just do not do the right thing and move on-

Update- My dealer called and apoligized- he called m- even though everyone new that they were coming out with 2.35 in the 4th qtr. of '06 and they announced at CES and also showed it at bristol-They claim that they NEVER officially released the anamorphic solution( I think because I got it and it did not work)- therefore their system works as designed-Basically it is a FU -They did not offer to do anything for me- Since this is the case my dealer will not take back the PJ- As I said I will NEVER EVER buy another M product- that is all I am going to say at this point- thanks to everyone for their help- I now know what I need to do- gary

Gary, I'm sorry to hear these bad news. I can absolutely understand that you will not buy another M product again, I guess I'd do the same if I were in your situation.

If this was sold to you with the promise that it would do 2.35:1, then your lawyer will take care of it, since your dealer and Meridian lied to push the product on you.

Anyway, if you will be stuck with the projector, the cheapest way to get what you want would be a Lumagen processor. Maybe you could sell the M processor on eBay to minimize your loss.

I wish you all the best and hope your lawyer will get the money back for you!

IMHO you can get involved with a lawsuit- the only guarantee is the lawyers get paid.

I would look into working with the dealer to get you an anamorphic lens + crystalio II or other VP that can output 1080P at the rate the projector expects and also can format the video for 2.35. I am using the CII and its awesome. you still have a great basic projector. Now this will cost extra and I would expect the dealer to cover some of this. If they are willing to work with you, then isnt the dollars youd spend on an attorney and lawsuit better spent in your theater- and the same logic for the dealer as youd sue them and theyd sue Meridian. Another thing to consider is what assets does M of USA have vs. the parent company which is out of the country.... Its not very clear cut and Im sure the promotional material has a lot of wiggle room.... JMHO.

best regards,
Jerry
