We are all on dodgy ground here, because - as stated - we simply don't know the mix of Meridian and Faroudja technology in the M-F VPs. We also don't whether or not Faroudja are back on the bleeding edge with their algorithm development after suffering a dip post-DCDi.

The DVP-6080 does not appear to be in production yet (it's not even in the Digital Theatre in Huntingdon) and I have read comments (from several people who were at CES) about the new motion-compensated frame interpolation looking "odd".

Also, without blind tests, no-one is in a position to say how good or bad the Meridian processors (or projectors) are. We are only able to compare the feature sets and, IMO, the DVP-1080 compares very poorly vs. the competition. The DVP-6080 is also ludicrously expensive. It's a statement sure, but is it the best?

Don't get me wrong: I am pro-Meridian, but I will not take their marketing claims verbatim until the products are submitted to the utmost independent scrutiny. I've seen people on this forum and elsewhere raving about Meridian's projector and VP, but in many cases it's their first experience of high-end projection video!

It requires constructive criticism to force anyone to improve. Not doing so on this forum would be to do a dis-service to Meridian. As an analogue, just look at what happened to George Lucas - "Great script George [lots of sucking noises]. No improvements needed". Cue Episodes I, II and III...
