With that in mind I rest my case.
There is another explanation and that is that a lot of potential Meridian buyers simply do not know about this site... But they know about eBay.

I'm still interested in a Meridian networked source that can play all formats I use:

.ts .h264 .wmv .MP3 .FLAC divx xvid perhaps even BD and HD-DVD

Now I'm diverted to crappy tvix player with subpar components and/or a htpc which always need tweaking or adjusting and doesn't have a useful remote for what I need to do.

I'm prepared to pay good money for this box as long as it is current. This would be the crown source of my rig. And I could just throw away my htpc and put up a couple of terabytes of NAS disc on the GigaBit network hidden somewhere.

Here are three ideas I think could be interesting, at least to me, hopefully to Meridian too:

*Networked* DSP speakers.

Wireless, wireless, wireless. As the technology develops, it will become better and better until it would be indistinguishable from a traditional wired speaker.

Also something that could be interestig is a DSP that allows to change the sound in a way that if you like warm tube like sound, or analytical, than you can adjust accordingly. This, I assume, should not be very complicated.

Cheers!!!

Meridian has a huge advantage when it comes to wireless speakers, of course...

Keep in mind you may get into issues with lipsync for wireless speakers. The wireless has to be buffered ahead. Works fine for audio only apps. They would need a large video buffer. Might get tricky keeping 7.1 speakers wirelessly in sync too. I'm not saying it can't be done.

I get lip sync issues sometimes with the wired stuff !!!

What about wired-less rather than wireless?

Putting potential noise issues aside, a system similar to the Denovo mains networking would be cool. Audio and comms signals passed over the humble mains system would be rather neat.

The used price of other equipment has been mentioned above, but the one which has brought a new note of dismay to chez Mr Meridian is an ad posted today on AVforums...a two year old Panasonic 42" plasma (the PW6) being effectively "thrown out" for 350. He'll doubtless settle for 300 or 275, and I'm left shaking my head at how my 1870 spend on the same screen two years ago (and a bargain at that point) could have crashed so badly. There really is no point selling now...we might as well accumulate second, third, fourth room systems...

Cheers

Missed that one - at that price I would have snapped it up...

Edit: Complete retraction of the sentence above. Although nominally a stunning deal, IIRC that model was available for around 1200. There are a lot of hours on it and, critically, there are no input boards.
