Interesting indeed; Daniel - I had similar thoughts as you expressed earlier in the thread. This may by M-'s way to extend the DVD-A high end disk and player market. It will be difficult though IMO to enter the market with HD-DVD and ignore the exclusive content on BD (assuming that doesn't change); These format wars are so detrimental to success with the customer...
sns -good point and I sure hope so...
Looking forward to hearing what JK learns from Bob...

Uh ... what if the forthcoming M HD-DVD player would in fact not be a G series but a ... 800 series  ?

There's nothing in the Meridian CES 2007 Press kit about an HD-DVD-player... Just news about the C-series, G95 and MPMax 221.
I've got datasheets of the G95 and MDMax221 but no means of uploading these. Assistance anyone?

Donron:
Perhaps there is no announcement because there is not intended to be an announcement at this time? Cheers,

Hi Donron
I'd love a scan of that MPMax221 datasheet if you were able to do one...
Cheers

Nice one donron.
A slot loading drive on the G95? Things have changed since the days when half the player opened to accept a disc. At least there'll be no more detatched doors when they get sold as s/h years from now. :-)
Isn't it a strange time to announce an integrated upscaling DVD player if there's a HD one in the pipeline? Different market I know, but still seems strange. Would any of you buy it with the knowledge that something better was months away? It's put some doubt in my mind over whether there really is a HD player on the horizon.
Just a thought.

Good man Donron...thanks!
A slot loading drive? I suppose we must move with the times, but I think it rather detracts from the clean lines of the unit. Since many component parts are shared across the range, I wonder if any new (HD?) players will also be slot loaders?
Cheers
George

I don't care for slot loaders.
I tend to get the CD a lot more dirty (finder prints) when putting them in. I also don't like anything touching the bottom of the CD if I can avoid it. Usually there is a brush on the slot "cleaning" the disc for you. If anything ever does get on the brush it rub against every disc you load.

The G95 includes five channels of powerful, compact and innovative new Class D digital power amplifiers, which offer exceptional power output - 100W per channel into 8Ω - while remaining cool even at full output. The G95 is the first Meridian product to include digital power amplifiers, and the design was chosen following extensive research to ensure that the quality and performance matched that typically delivered by Meridian`s conventional audio amplifier designs. The power amplifier has been specially optimised for cool running and maximum audio quality, including the use of audiophile capacitors and other components. Class D digital power amplifiers... What are they then?

g95 is direct competition for the naim nvi, and if Meridian get it out bug free , they could steal the show as there are many disilusioned nvi owners and possible purchasers on the naim forums a lot of people want one box home cinema solutions
