Not just on layer change. I have now sold my 598 w/SDI after trialling my Oppo 970. The Oppo PQ was easily as good as (or better) than the 598/Crystalio combination, useability was vastly better, and into my G68 I could not tell the difference with RBCD. My ears, my eyes. YMMV.
