hmmmm, not sure what to make of that one... The Rock anyone?
Are they even in business anymore? They are such a minor player in the industry that I'm not surprised that Bob doesn't know them by name. Name dropping is much better if you pick a company like Lexicon which has had trade-in offers in the past.

Should be a quick check to see who they might be however; I take your point on Lexicon though - you're right, that's a better example...

question: safe volume feature...
answer: Can you suggest a safe volume?
well, if one doesn't come to mind, how about 0; or just let the user select it.. I do this now automatically on shutdown via programmable remote with 30 volume downs, no-matter what it was while listening.
The point of the question is that the concept of "safe" is highly subjective and the powerup source can be variable... Is it 75, 65, 30? Yes a user selectable power-up volume would be much better. Even that won't be perfect.

It's a small feature, but I'm calling you guys out on this because it's a point that goes beyond the feature itself I think...although I'll keep my rant localized to this feature...
Yes - I think that was the cheekiness of Bob's response - that there isn't a perfect setting;
Have to say - does anybody have a powerup source that is too loud (earsplitting) at 30? I've had lots of sources into M- gear over the last 10 years - never had a source too loud at 50 even... OK not perfect because there might be one out there;
A user selectable would take care of it since we obviously do that satisfactorily now by making the imperfect adjustments manually. Since the goal is to prevent ear-shock on turn-on at the next listening, anything in a huge range is perfectly fine.
The goal isn't to come up at the perfect volume (this isn't possible since even the same source may be different depending on what's in it!). The mission to reduce to a non-shocking range;
I guess for me, the bottom line frustration on this one is, why do we need to explain all of this - don't Bob and others have this same experience on their own systems? wives? or don't they think others do? Do they not turn down their systems to a 'guessed' (i.e. imperfect) volume for next turn-on; Let's try this: No matter what the source, 30 or 40 is more perfecter than 80 or 90, no?
If the powers at be can't somehow relate or conjure up a satisfactory setting, then just give us the imperfect user selectable option and we'll take care of it. Either a shut-down down volume or start-up volume. I can scarcely believe it takes this much explaination... We've probably spent more time and money talking about it than it would take to just implement it - just my guess of course.
Now, apparantly to get it on the feature list, we're asked to come up with a suggested perfect volume; Any volume less than 50 (did I say that loud enough?
) or best, a user selectable will be a PERFECTLY acceptable solution
IMHO
OK - off the box - sorry... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Also, the 'finding lip sync in Mconfig' answer:
'well, you found it';
well, yes; but it took much longer than a Google for TAW..
--actually that one did give me a chuckle---
I understand their PoV. It is in the most logical place to be located from their PoV. Can you make a compelling case for it to go someplace else that is more intuitive?
