Here is a letter I wrote to the fellow who wrote the article as he reports that HD DVD/BR doesnt look so good:

Hi John,
I have been reading your column at TMO since you arrived and I enjoy them. I want to take a quick moment to point out that whom ever said that HD DVD/ BRDs don't look good is very badly mistaken. I am a home theater enthusiast with a fairly high quality home theater and in my opinion the technical ability of these formats is excellent. I have players for both formats. The resulting image is far superior to broadcast HD. Its the best quality image I've ever seen from a display device for home use. Now as to the formats' viability, I am not so sure- but it will not be for lack of performance. As we know performance is usually not high up on the decision tree for these purchases. I think Apple will do very well with the ATV. I wish they would do 1080P/24 output, maybe they will move on to that in future releases? In any event please keep up the good work- I look forward to reading many more articles.
best regards,
Jerry
