The latter half of that list showing unannounced titles is really just a collection of names mentioned at one time or another relating to HD DVD which can be dated as far back as CES 2005, but it`s probably safe to assume a good bulk of those will appear this year finally.

I know we can certainly be sure of HD versions of those getting a DVD re-release this year though - which include a definitive cut of Bladerunner, special edition re-issues of Kubrick`s films and The Dirty Harry movies.

I too hope CES ushers a mass of announcements. It would be great to finally hear of Newline and Dreamworks prepping some content.

smile Either way I'm sure the only one you'll see of those this year is The Matrix.

Who has the Fox distribution right in Europe (and elsewhere outside the US)? It never occured to me that studio affiliations were meaningless if their distributors sided with the opposition!!!

And on another note, can anyone give any suggestions for where to buy European HD DVDs? Given that we're going to have to source from multiple continents...

Does anyone know if Warner has corrected its -10dB mixing faux pas (with e.g. The Last Samurai)?

The WB titles are 10 db down? (Im only watching using a plasma and the stereo speakers right now.)

Btw- everyone rush out and buy star wars like 10 more times and then maybe Mr. Lucas will think its been sold enough in SD... wink

best regards,
Jerry

Jerry - not sure if it was just The Last Samurai or early Warner titles in general.

BTW, my XA1 has arrived!

30th Anniversary this year. I think George can squeeze one more sale of the movies out of millions of people on DVD again.

Last Samurai, Phantom of the Opera and Million Dollar Baby all had the 10db thing. There might have been one or two others (Goodfellas?). To the best of my knowledge they sorted it pretty quickly and everything since has been done correctly, not that the small number of aforementioned titles could initially be considered ‘faulty` mind you. To the best of my knowledge they`ve not re-issued those movies with the audio levels compensated however.

Serenity and Unforgiven also had the problem. I've replaced all the affected versions with the UK releases assuming that they won't have the problem (I haven't tested to confirm).

By coincidence I just walked out of my cinema having watched Goodfellas - volume level was generally good (I didn't have to adjust from my reference level) but there were some scenes when the audio went quiet and distant.
