I would choose one Mac as your music server and encode CDs to this computer using iTunes Apple Lossless and error correction.
I prefer the SB3, as the Aiport Express doesn't have a display for selecting music. I generally agree. best regards, Jerry

Fan :
I play iTunes over 'Airport Express' also. I connect the 'Airport Express' to the 861 with an optical cable. Not 'Ab-Fab' but sounds pretty good.

Thanks everyone, I got a great deal on an Air from here.
http://www.provantage.com/apple-m9470ll~7APLM001.htm I am not too sure what they mean by having an Airport card for the Mac that plays the iTune from.

Hi, The only Bumb Question is one not asked. I have a USB on my TV. This allows MP3 player access (Onscreen display and control via TV remote) and outputs a digital signal via the SPDIF digital output to my Meridian system. The TV also has A SPDIF digital input. Very thoughtfull design me thinks Happy New year, Chris
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

The downside of Airport Express is that it only allows streaming audio from iTunes. If you want to stream audio from other applications, you may want to consider Airfoil . It worked well for me.

If you only plan 1 solution and physical location works relative to your TV; you might consider waiting a couple of weeks to see when the iTV device is released;

Thanks Arcade. My 861 has only one Optical input which's used for the Sony's PS3 already. Again going from Optical back to Coax won't that degrade the signal along the way somehow.

The cheapest solution is a optical/coax converter. The Optical/Coax conversion shouldn't degrade the signal. Another solution is the Octava HDMI switch which includes 4x1 Toslink optical audio routing. I went with the expensive Meridian solution and got the ID25 Optical Digital input card here .
