On the other hand, despite the obvious improvements in useability, I've come to realize that, for Meridian (non-HDMI ) processor users, the 5.1 output is essential for sound quality. Otherwise, you'll have to make do with DD+ and TruHD soundtracks being decoded and then re-encoded into DTS for pass-out on the TOSLINK...
