Unless you don't bother buying any CD's at all and set your Squeezebox to Pandora. Awsome tailored webRadio service. You type in a song you like and it queues and streams it followed by limitless music in the same style.
No need to have a music collection at all.
PS - its free.
PPS - I am having a bit of a technology nirvana today - so much stuff available now I don't know where to start!
Video Sources: Cheap Samsung BluRay, Xbox One, Virgin TiVo HD Audio source: Hifiberry DIGI on Raspberry pi running max2play. Music server: MacMini '06 running iTunes library Output (3.0): G61R, HDmax421, DSP5000, DSP33C and Samsung 29in LCD

Thanks for that - A couple of my friends having been raving about Pandora. Have you had any problems with the stream? I know what you mean re: technology nirvana. I gave my sister a mac mini and have just spent the evening hooking it up to the internet using a wireless / ethernet convertor!
Cheers Tom

For all those out there considering music servers - I strongly suggest you look at the Sonos system. The hand-held controller is outstanding, and they offer both amplified and line/digital distributed "zone players" (to mix and match with your main system, other systems and to provide additional background systems around the house).
For me, the Sonos is great because I can navigate my collection (which I've ripped to Apple lossless in iTunes) on the color controller screen (instead of a few lines of text) and control my music all over the house, from any location - much like an deluxe iPod interface. Even all my album artwork is displayed.
BTW - the digital output on the Sonos sounds as good as my 596 when used as a transport, so I run it directly into my 568.2. This was not true for the Airport express, which fell short of the 596 (but not by far).
Have fun!

hi johnmcelfresh
The remote looks great on the Sonos. What is entry price for this equipment? Do you get anything extra from the Sonos system over the Squeezebox excluding the remote?
Cheers Tom

Slightly OT, but I heard over the weekend that Linn is making a media receiver, so it seems that at least one upper-end manufacturer is seeing where the world is going. Bet it costs a fraction more than a squeezebox though...
So, how about a G91-squeeze ? I'd buy that.
Regards
Mark

Mark, McIntosh have one, too. There'll be a stack of high end servers soon.
