Paul D:

Given the amount of M kit that you have (and the related value of same) you may be able to save a little time and aggrevation by borrowing, even for one night, another M processor from your dealer.

This would, at the very least, allow for a quicker and simpler way of testing whether or not it is the G68...

Or...

Do you have a dedicated AC line so that it's not your fridge or anything else that is causing your sensitive DAC's to hickup?

Is your cable/antenna connected without being shielded from ground loops and such?

In my experience these things often stems from AC power issues or grounding problems. DAC's are sensitive to this. Have you had a lightning strike in the neighboorhood?

Hi Paul D,
How are you going with this problem. Did it go away when you took the G68 out of the loop and ran the speakers with the G98 only?

Ian

Hi Paul,

I think I may have a similar problem with my G68 XXV. I get "snaps" sometimes when the digital input source changes. However, these digital "snaps" seem limited to the center channel. Usually they occur when I change channels from a channel with DD 5.1 to a DD 2.0 channel. Basically what happens is the sound drops for a second while the G68 looks for digital lock, then I ge the "snap", and then the sound comes back. It seems that the G68 has some problems locking on a new digital stream. I also get random "snaps" when I turn mute on and off. Can you turn mute on and off and see if you also get any digital noise?

Good luck!

Hi Greg,

In my case it is random, sound is lost for a second during CD replay, as I wrote I cannot re-test since the kit is packed away. I also suspect, but cannot prove presently, that it is the G68D. It never occurred during a channel change.

When unpacked, updated I will test thoroughly, but without worry, since it will be resolved

Regards

I think the clicks are related to DSP preset change not source change. I get them on my G68XXV when I eject a DVD-V (5.1DD on the Cinema preset) from the G98 and the system reverts to my default 2 channel preset of Trifield. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen all the time.

I get something that is possibly the same thing when I change from any input on my G68J to my XBox 360. This is connected via optical and everything else is coax.

It sounds like capacitors discharging in an analogue amplifer, except it's a digital input, and occurs over all 5 channels.
