The first time I heard playback from a Revox was probably my first true experience of high fidelity. It was outstanding.

Sorry if I have duplicated info already stated but as George says, the 562V does not have PC setup. However the 562V can take a V2 ROM which still does not give it PC setup but *may* allow it to read the configuration via PC - my first piece of 500 kit was a 562V sold to me as a 562V2 because it had the V2 firmware. Unfortunately, whilst V2 does work, it can get a bit confusing as options for the V2 are still available but do not work - notibly extra s-video inputs and the built in equivalent of the 517 DAC which can lead you to thinking that a 517DAC is present when it is not.

Hi Snowflake;

If you look at the 568.2 Manual page 69 it will tell you how to connect a 568 with a 562.

You do need to set all the inputs on the 562 to the correct input or to last valid..

The 568 should be the controller with the 596 and the 562 being not controllers.

If you set everything to auto and press clear on the remote with 5C leads connected you should see controller on the568 and NCon on the other 2 devices.

If you have any other issues feel free to call.

Marc

Ian - I think you may have nailed the "hybrid", "may" is a very good term to describe the units behaviour!

MarcK, its all tuned up to 562 mode, but was being a bit stubborn......

VK, my A77 was built in 1974 (I was eight then), at the time I developed an addiction to hi-fi (1977) they were still out of reach, now I have one, huzzah...........bizzarely a CD taped to it appears to sound better than the original. One would assume this is due to the raging D\A war, cynicism makes me doubt myself, but it is a fine sounding tape machine, its low speed (7 ips) but half track so the full glory of the tape is taken. An article I once read says they were used to master LP's, I choose to believe this :-)
