Just to divert to a small cosmetic issue as far as future scalers go.....

Am I right in thinking M own or have enough control over Faroudja now to the point that we could see a stand alone Faroudja processor like the one demoed at Bristol in a G series case. Functionally just the same but much better looking and fitting with M products and possibly in built M comms like that for the HDMAX.... :p

Come on M.. Flex those muscles...

That would be nice!

I would also like to see a 'realta/gennum' quality scaler card for 800v4 with HDMI (and SDI???) input for an 'external' Bluray disc player, if the upgrade for 800 proves to be too expensive/impractical, and dual (?) HDMI outputs - one to 861 for audio; and a second to the display for video.

Simon:

Yes, that would be very nice...although, for me to go this route it, the internal solution, would have to have all the flexibility that a standalone unit -- a la Lumagen -- now has.

I suspect, as is currently the case, that I will be forced to pay for two scalers -- as I do not use the one within the 800V4...would be great of M to design the 800's upgrade path such that it need not have an internal scaler...just my $0.02

hi all

im a total newbie as far as scalers are concerned
my kit is g98d/ naim av2 processer(audio only)/ infocus 7205 pj/pioneer 504hde plasma
and with the imminent?? arrival of sky hd tv in the uk,i have made enquiries regarding the lumagen hdq (as i think its more beneficial to spend the 400+ for a HDMI splitter on something that will also improve the picture)
reading the posts above about HDMI 1:3 and its importance i realise im out of my knowledgeable depth ,could someone please explain the importance.
i dont want to waste money on something that hasa limited lifespan as stated above
i can get the hdq installed and set up for all sources to all displays for @ 1900 and was told i would notice a difference in picture quality

regards

neil
