I did manual upload of 2.11 but used a prior version of winfup because the latest winfup was not available at that point in time. Uploading core and data seperately, the update appeared to be successful. The G98 was however behaving oddly so I did the recommended retype but my HDMI output was not as good as it was previously. Hoping that a more up to date version of winfup may sort things, I performed the update again and this trashed the G98. Winfup now returns one of two errors - Bad authentication and a timeout. This occurs once it has erased the memory. The unit then hangs with the Meridian logo and downloading.

So far, all suggestions by Meridian tech support to recover the situation have now failed so it looks like a short vacation for my G98 is now on the cards.

The good news is that 1080p appeared to work on my Loewe Xelos SL although the poor HDMI output now affecting 720p/1080i/1080p have made it impossible to tell whether it will be better or as stable as 720p that I have used up until now.

If fupload fails to complete the download of the new firmware your player will appear dead, but the bios will still be present and active. It just may require multiple attempts to fupload the firmware until it completes correctly to bring the player back to life.

Yes but the Indentifier will not recognise the G91 player so it just says cannot connect on comms port 3 or any other for that matter confused

Only had time to update MConfig yesterday. However the 1080p option does not appear in the video properties.

I guess this has to be done on the G91 itself?!

WinFup does not need to recognise the G91 player. You could manually drag the .mfu files you need from the firmware directory into WinFup and download them that way instead of using the mfp file. Select the Start button then switch off and on your G91 and the fupload will start.

Ian,

As yet i have spoken to any one directly at Meridian but i guess our problems are the same if not similar. would appreciate being kept in your loop in terms of when they say 'bring it in'.

also, i have now tried it on 3 different computers.... no go.

Just updated the Meridian programs on my laptop and updated firmware on a G91DH FM, G98DH and an G98AH. All without problems and done within half an hour.

Thankfuly an outing to Huntingdon is not required. A different PC, my trusty old workstation with 'real' serial port seemed to have come to my rescue again. Odd that things worked just a few hours before.

1080p sort of works for me but the movement is not smooth. So I will be sticking with 720p. I guess that whilst my TV can decode 1080p, its not up to the job of downscaling it to fit a 1366x768 screen or maybe it is cheating by dropping every other frame.

How do you know the "DVI Error 2" error message is due to your Meridian player and not the display device it is attached to?. What display device are you using???

I'm soon to give upp on this, I did a very clean unistall of everything, I even hacked registry removed every obvius trace off Meridian software.
Downloaded a new setup.exe from Meridian
Then tried to dowload again...
After a long wait the check boxes appears...
check in what i want, the meter ticks upp to 26% and then freezez. this is completely arbitary it could freeze at any piont but when it stopps it's stopps dead in the water no more activity there my final experiment will now be to leave it on for hours to see if it resumes the dowload.

Next thing as both my aviable computers are without a real serial port and i have to use USB adapters i hope my new adapter with my HP workstation will do it.

For everyone's benefit don't even try to use IBM's serialport / parallell adapter that is supplied with thinkpad T40p it does work with config but not with fuploader.
