I have recently purchased another pair of DSP 5200s for my rears. However, I am unable to get any sound out of them. Purhaps I have not connected them or programed them correctly. I have a 511 patch and have been toiling for hours! Can anyone help, ore send me a schematic to assist in the connection. Is my problem Digital input 1 vs 2? Do I need to program the speaker for Slave 1 or 2? Please help! afullertonf@yahoo.com

You could try the configuration program from Meridian (http://www.Meridian-audio.com/download/components.html) which when I was playing with it allows you to choose all the components you have in your system, and it shows you where all the connections should go.. Might help?

Do they work if you run the cabling for your main fronts into them?

It's most likely a comms or config issue. The set up normally advocated by M is having the centre as Master so you have an M5 cable going from the G68 to the 5200C. Use the comms part of an S5 from the 5200C back to the 511 patch box. Use S5 cables for the front and rear pairs, with the comms lead which "drives" each pair connected to the 511.

The other issue is config. Have you set each speaker in the new pair to be a Rear Left and Rear Right?

Cheers

George

One thing to check is that both are set to be slave and not master. A "normal" pair is one master and one slave. But in a surround situation the centre is normally the master and all other speakers are slaves.

hope this helps,

Chris

What doesn't work exactly? Just no sound, or don't the 5200s switch on at all?

I have connected them together with the s5 cable as Dig in and coms in, then the one speaker to the 511 with the comms and then the other (dig out) to the g68 as rears. I not sure if on the connection if it should be connected to dig in 1or2, or if on the config withing the speaker it should say slave 1 or 2. When I turn the system on they turn on with the correct source and volume level, but no sound.

If this is a 5.1 setup, make sure you are connected to the back surrounds out (bottom Digital out connector) not the side surrounds out.

Hi again

I think your solution is in the info everyone has posted above.

Use input D1, and you need to go into the setup/config routine in each speaker (the actual speaker, not via PC or laptop) to ensure the following are set:

Type 6
one as Rear left, slave
one as Rear Right, slave

All should be fine thereafter.

Cheers

George

Good point John!

Your comms connections are obviously fine as the speakers are recognising source and volume commands.

Cheers

D'oh!!!! ....it's in your answer......

Quote
the other (dig out) to the g68 as rears.
You need to connect the G68 to the digi IN of the 5k...otherwise you'll get no sound. :p

In other words...G68 to digi IN of DSP 1....DSP1 digi out to DSP 2 digi IN.

Rgds,
Nick
