Hi Mate,

It is a joint G98/G91 and 800 series upgrade but does not include the 500 series!

Cheers, Stephen.

Interesting, because the 598 has also had beta firmware for a long time.

When is it full release, I don't understand there is a two tier firmware release:
one side new customers
and on the other old customers who actually suffered the bugs are getting second treatment...

Sounds like it is the wrong way around...

Just received my 800 upgraded with a VE12 with latest firmware and the card talks to my Sony projector in 1080p. I know that the 800 shares a lot of features and some firmware with the G serie so hang in there, it must be really close.

The 800v3 output was the standard 480p but was upscaled to 720p via an external scaler/controller for my Runco VX-1000c projector. I did change both the projector and added the VE12 card so it hard to isolate the mods for comparasion. I can tell you that the image is stunning. The resolution, color and contrast are outstanding. By comparing the HD signal of my cable box to the VE12 I can somewhat isolate my projector and the signal from the DVD is very close to HD. No more shadowing and for me was well worth the upgrade.

Hope this helps

Did you have a chance to view DVD material on the Sony prior to the 800 upgrade?

Sorry, I did not. I did bring my 800v4 to a friends place with a SONY rear projection TV with a similar SRXRD engine. The max res of the TV was 1080i and although there was a marked improvement from his DVD player, the image was not nearly as good as on my projector. What does it mean objectively? Probably only that my combination is dynamite and other than that, it is only speculation. Sorry you are not closer to Oklahoma, I would love to give it a try on your projector.

G91A information now on Meridian's website.

When this model goes on sale, the firmware upgrade for G98/G91 should not take much longer (I hope).

Robbo,

Not that I want to dampen your spirits but the DSP3100's have been out a little while now and there is still no appearance of them in the latest MConfig. I really hope this comes out soon as I intend purchasing a pair very shortly! - Sos, a little off topic.
