Hello All,

I have the following config :

568V2 2.5
598 DP smartlink to 568V2
B&W Nautilus N804
B&W HTM1

Everything was runing well, but since some time, with new serie DVD's like West Wing Season 5 and desperate housewives, some DVD do not run, the DVD played do not accept them... I have a very cheap DVD player and all run with no issue ...

Can you help pleaseeeeeeeeeeee ;-)

Yesterday I watched War of the World and had some bad jumping, blocking, etc rather like a poor layer change in one of the chapters. Most of CD played OK. On one re-load the player came up with no-disc and only opening and closing the drawer got it going.

I cleaned the DVD (Reveel) and it plays perfectly. Don't know if the 598 is more likely to have such problems than a cheap player.

regards

Chris

Chris,

keep an eye on further occurrances of this type of problem. It sounds like a dirty disc but the drives have been known to fail which produce the same symptoms

also notify M of your problems. my understanding is that there have been insances of problematic discs (cds, DVD-as, dvds, etc.) and them knowing about it ASAP allows them to tweak firmware et. al. to deal with it.

I would back up doody's comment about informing M, I reported problems with 'Spiderman' a few years ago.
Although M have written their own disc navigation software that complies with the standard definitions, some disc authors create menu structures outside of the standards. Many cheap players just have 'wide open' structure acceptance.

I'm currently waiting for feedback from M on a problem I've got, I'll ask if they have an email address for such issues. If so I will edit & post here.

Just had my responce (after doody's contact post) I've discovered a software bug in the 568 (2.5 beta and 2.12 full release). No doubt they will write a patch & release.
This is one of the benefits of M gear, leading edge equipment with long term support.
