I did not want to duplicate posts regarding my experience with HDMI. It is been frustrating to me, because I have not been able to get a satisfactory image from my G91 and Runco plasma. So I am stuck with component for now.
Ian - they replaced the DVD drive, the HDMI socket and updated the player to 1.81. So far, no problems. What was the real cause of all the non playing discs ? Hard to tell but so far, all is golden. Interesting to hear SNS' experience.
Recruit - Im sure you'll be fine. If not, the turnaround time was only about 3 days, which I thought was very impressive indeed ! The 436 is a great panel and via HDMI, absolutely gorgeous. Scale that picture to 720p and sit back in awe. The 436 is really good on freeview, too.

Cheers Patrick - I am not too worried my dealer is brilliant " Musical Images " and even if there is a problem they bend over backwards to help me out
I am trying to find a screen to work with my new G91 over the HDMI/HDCP thing. Tried 3 screens in 2 stores so far - no go! It's rather disturbing to think that maybe the HDMI board in the G91 is stuffed somehow, or is it a screen issue ?
So, a list of screens that should work would be useful. Meridian cannot produce such a list. What can be added from Phillips screens to this list ? Pioneer PD434HDE Pioneer 436xde Fujitsu XHa40 plasma
Hello "simpleuser" have you tried all possible settings in the G91 ? and what sw is it in G91 ?
An example with sw1.73 i got no picture at all with my G98 and the scaler in "auto" i had to use 720p or deinterlace.
And in some cases i had to power upp the devices in a certain order to get the handshake to take place. I also experienced that i had to play a disc the "first" time i use the G98 (new or fw uppgrade)to get a picture (meny or Meridian logo screen won't work either).
So this HDMI is by no means "plug and play".
Btw:
SONY HS50 Works with G9x (good with sw1.81 and unreliable with sw1.73)
Hi Good luck with your HDMI set up. It was certainly not plug and play with my G91 v1.73 to Hitachi Plasma.I had to do a lot of trial and error with the set up and then had issues with the picture size and still won't run at 720p; 1080i is the best I can do. It's not straightforward but it is worth the effort, as it's much better than component. Both DVD and Sky are fantastic through my HDMI/DVI connection. Going to use the 121 / 421 units, so fingers crossed regarding 720p.
