Has anyone toyed with the idea of organizing a get together for Meridian equipment users in the USA or UK as well?

We could share ideas, questions, problems and soultions.

Local dealers might be interested in doing some set-ups and providing guest speakers.

A trade/sell/swap shop could be a possibility as well.

Sounds like a great idea. I've toyed with the idea as well.

If you think listening to music is fun, try learning an instrument.

I'd definitely be in for that - and happy to help as well;
I'm in the Orlando area - great place for that kind of thing...
and a lot of UK folks consider this a home away from home....

This seems like a great idea and I'm surprised there's not been more response. How about setting up a poll to flush out the depth of interest, preferred location and timing?

Steve

Well, I would be interested in a UK meet. Somewhere central - say near Huntingdon. I am sure there might be a venue there ...

I too think this is a great idea - not sure I could make it over to the US but if there was enough UK support.... you never know, someone from M might feel it worthwhile to come along too.....

Simon,

There are quite a few of us locally. I work in Romsey, DVDpete is in Ringwood and I have a feeling Nick (ncpl) is quite local too.

Any more in the South?

yep i am in the south, surrey so southampton, ringwood is not too far. you could choose an M3 location for those who live further east or north.

anyway i would be happy to learn and certainly contribute at the lower to medium end. I am sure not everyone runs 7000/8000's :-)

I would be keen to meet up in the UK. It seems to me a great idea to meet at Huntingdon, it is relatively central for travelling and of course a factory visit plus some time in the Meridian dem room as a group would be great fun.

Meridian would not have to send anyone out as we would all be on site. It would be a good cheap PR exercise for Meridian to meet some of it's keenest customers and an opportunity for us to quiz the gurus on our current niggles and seek some hints on what is coming next.

Colin,

I hope they are listening. This would be a low cost PR/Feedback/Marketing exercise for Meridian.

I think this is a great idea to. At present there is no M dealer in Ireland so info and demos no longer exist over here.

Be nice to put up a beer or some lunch for Edd and the boys too !

being involved in manufacturing, i think it would be a huge insurance headache for M to give a tour and get resources to ensure the site is secured.
More thank likely they would send someone if they felt it appropriate and yes ED might come for a beer and a lunch.

Depending upon numbers a hotel or leisure centre will probably be more likely.

With regards to feedback, PR, do they really need to ? Not their go to market model and given they read this forum all the time, I would say if you were a techie would you come ?
When is that ready ? Why have you not fixed that ? where is the beta ? We all know the questions they are gonna get - dont deny it !

I think we would have more luck if they did a demo to us of some low, medium and hi-end kit at huntingdon. Limited numbers ,etc and then we went to lunch at a local establishment that might have a larger dining room in which we could sit and chat otherwise i think hotel room hires etc and we start getting into costs which some might not mind paying including myself but others may question well what do i get for being a member etc.

So in summary how about a formal application to M for a demo of low, medium hi end audio and video and then a luncheon location by someone who knows the area. We could then invite the demonstrator etc.

?? ready to to flamed ! :-)
