Per, I have had an 800v3 for a while, but there was some issues with how was calibrated during production (all 800 has this problem). It was impossible to get a correct 6500k color temp. I made M. aware of it, but it seemed to me at the time that nobody there was qualified to deal with issues like color space and matrix. I would rather get the Denon A1 DVD player instead of an 800v4, but if you're really focused on getting the best possible picture, you should get a Dragonfly video scaler and then just buy a regular, but good DVD player. PQ will top anything out there.

Meridian and the Plasma displays seems to have problems with HDMI in/out puts. I am using a Sharp DLP with 800 and G98 DH and Pioneer AVI59 and have a great picture with all three via HDMI.

How does the DVDO compare to the VI00 card?
Does it make more sense to just add HDMI to V3 and use a DVDO. or go to V4 ie VI00 & VE12.

When adding a high performance external scaler, there's really not much left for the DVD player to do when using HDMI or DVI (both yields same result). As for the sound there's no question that the 800 is among the best and it's upgradeable, so if money is no object an 800 on a good scaler will be pretty awesome. I'm getting a Dragonfly sooner or later.

Per, we should hook up and compare notes at some point, my e-mail is bjorn.svendsen@mediatech.nu.

Hei Per!

Andre does Chord too, remember. Given the choice between Chord and Meridian, I went the Chord route for the processor (8000 R). Now I'll be going the Chord route for DVD replay and video scaling:
http://www.chordelectronics.co.uk/products_detail.asp?id=41

If the 8000 processor is anything to go on I strongly suspect this source system is going to be a major success. Chord's approach appears to be to take the very best of third-party solutions and integrate superbly, so the end result is highly performant, stable and easy to use.

Apologies to all for the non-Meridian input, just letting you know what the competition is up to.

Hey bmcelvaney
I have not yett recived the 800V4
I used the G98DH with the DVDO HD+ and the
result wast best letting the DVDO do the work
Used HDMI to DVI from the G98.
U also have more flexibility picture and setup wise when using the DVDO!

Some DVD`s are encode wrong picture wise, then u can use the DVDO to lift, move and correct the aspect rotation!
