Hi
Has anyone repaired or replaced the Meridian lettering on the glass front of a G Series unit?
Anyone know of a specialist who can do this type of work?
Thanks in advance for all tips and leads.
Regards Colin

This company seems to do that kind of work for new products. I am not sure if they would do one off work or if they would require disassembly of the faceplate but I am guessing they could provide some guidance. https://www.graphic-art.co.uk/Nick

Thanks for the tip, I will follow up. I found the company that did the original printing, but the G08 is so old, this is the message they sent me: I’ve tried tracking down the artwork on our system but this one is from so long ago that I can’t seem to find it. Unfortunately this means we don’t have the actual artwork files anymore that we would need to print this. They were very friendly but unable to help, details below: https://screensandgraphics.co.uk/

For something like this, I would suggest having bespoke dry transfers created. If you’re old enough to remember, Letraset was a dry transfer product. You would create the file for the lettering from an image file of the text and supply this to a company such as https://drytransfers.co.uk/ who would create the transfer in white for subsequent application to the component. If you have access to an appropriate graphics file and if you have the typeface on your system or are prepared to buy it, the Meridian typeface, (which I believe is FF Scala Sans Pro) you can create the lettering from scratch. You’d require a reference to match the font style, size, kerning (letter space), etc.. Dry transfers are not particularly robust, so considerable care would be required when cleaning/dusting the component after application of the dry transfers. A couple of years ago I restored a pair of Technics SST-1 horn loudspeakers and for these I had clear vinyl stickers digitally printed for affixing to the repainted cases. This was how they were originally manufactured. The size of the lettering on a G Series component wouldn’t be suitable for this method. HTH
