Sanus AV Racks have ventilated support shelves.

Sanus AV Racks are designed specifically for AV kit.

If you don't have rack mounted kit, measure the height of a given component (such as an AV Receiver) to determine its U height. If it measures the equivalent of 3u in height, then buy/use a Sanus 3u height ventilated shelf.

With a rack-eared Meridian 271, 258, 218+210 fitted on a Meridian Rack Server Tray, for example, place them on a 2u or 1u Sanus ventilated shelf (that is fixed onto the vertical side rails), and fix the Meridian component to the vertical side rails above the side fixed ventilated shelf.

The component is then fully supported from front to back by the Sanus ventilated support shelf.

Rear spacer bars are provided to ensure that a component does not move deeper into the rack.

Ensure your chosen AV Rack is deep enough to accommodate your deepest component (plus rear protruding cables). Also, can the AV Rack sufficiently carry the total weight of all your components?

By comparison, I.T Server Racks require L-shaped mounted horizontal side rails, affixed to the front/rear vertical rails, that support the weight of the AV rack-eared kit; otherwise, relying on cantilevered front mounting alone risks damaging the component.

A simple online image search will reveal several real-world examples of non-rack-eared audio kit fitted into Sanus AV Racks.
