I had similar struggles and found that disconnecting my Windows 11 laptop from wifi and just a single ethernet cable between it and my ID41 was the only thing that worked... still to tackle my 218.

I finally succeeded.
I used my son’s laptop with a single wire to my 271.
Had to set a static IP in the laptop.
And within 60 seconds it was updated.
IF anyone needs help, let me know.

For Device Manager, you need to use a Windows 10 machine. The software still appears to depend on an older version of .NET and may not work properly under Windows 11.
At least, that has been my experience.

I’m using it on Windows 11 PC with no problems.
My gear: Trinnov CI, 271, 8000.1(SEs), 7200.1 HC (SE), 320s, 3200s, Seaton F18 subs, MS200 (2nd zone), 218, 210.
Other: JVC RS-4100 projector, Lumagen Pro Radiance, Panamorph DCR anamorphic lens, Stewart G4 130 screen, Kaleidescape Strato K, Rvolution 4K player and Zapitti NAS, Oppo BDP-203,Roon Nucleus

I admit that I haven’t tried version 65 yet. However, I had exactly the same issue with its predecessor: the update would hang indefinitely at “Preparing device for update.”
After switching to a Windows 10 machine, it worked immediately without any problems.

Has anyone noticed anything odd with their 818v3 since these last couple of updates?
Mine has been solid since I bought it from a fellow Hitchhiker 3-4 years ago. But in the last couple of days I've been experiencing issues:
1. Its display was showing everything as MQA when it wasn't (a power cycle seemed to fix this).
2. It just randomly powered down (quite gracefully) mid track - it then didn't show up as a zone in Roon until I selected SLS as a source from the front panel.
All very odd...

As context, I am a Mac user and it has been something like 15 years since I was remotely current on PCs and Windows. Please forgive the ignorant questions that follow. I have an old PC laptop running Win7, and according to Dell, not compatible with Win10 or 11. I only use that laptop for connecting to my Meridian system. It's my understanding that Meridian device manager requires Win10, and will not work with Win11. I haven't been able to find compatibility specs for device manager. That, combined with my complete ignorance of modern-ish PC hardware make it tough for me to decide on a Win10 laptop. I'm seeing the following on Amazon for US $200, but don't know if this is an appropriate choice. I'd be grateful for any guidance. 2020 Lenovo

Zero issues running Device manager or configuration programs on windows 11. Not an endorsement for windows 11, but they do work fine

I’m using an old Dell with Windows 7 and Meridian Device Manager is working like a charm. No problem whatsoever.
