The unit is reading CD’s showing tracks and timer runs but no sound.
DVD shows loading then No Disc error.
What replacement unit can I look for on eBay?

Hi Ralph,

It sounds like the drive is starting to fail.

You need to look for a DVS DSL-710A or DSL-720A drive.

All the drives you find on eBay will be refurbished, so don't expect too much!

Try to replace like with like, so in standby, press the display button a few times, and it should say what loader (drive) you have on the display.

If it's beyond you to strip the unit down and replace the drive, drop me a PM, and we can work something out.

Cheers,

Steve

hi
I got a disk on eBay from here last year ( same problems as you described) still working verry well.
I don’t know the g91 but changing the disk in the g98 was not verry difficult

Just like Steve said, found it to be a crapshoot...have the expectation 50/50 the replacement drive may be bad. Some older posts about alternative drives; bought about 4 listed options, none worked. My G98 and 91 both get very hot, so don't run them much any more. Will say the G91 sounded fantastic with CD's, better then the G98.

Took Andy’s advice and ordered a DSL-710 , CD loaded and played but DVD gave error “no disc”.
Have contacted seller for replacement or refund.
