Happy Saturday, one and all - Long time!

Finally returned from Kenya to Yorkshire after 12 years... and starting to wonder if the deterioration of my hearing can really justify keeping all this stuff, so maybe thinking of downsizing/downgrading.... how is the market at the moment on our crazy possessions...?

Possibly on the table to find a new home... frown
the front of an awesome cinema / 2 channel system...
- 2x8kSE's - Graphite
- 7200HCSE - Graphite
- 861v8 - Graphite

Wondering about...
- M6
- DSW - Graphite
- 818v3 - Graphite

or keep the "Wondering" list as my 2.1 system - anyone plugged an 818v3 into 2xM6 and a DSW??

Hope you are all well!

Before I bought my DSP5200SE's, I was highly delighted with my 218, M6, and DSW.2 2.1 system.

If it was available then, I would have added a Meridian UHD 121.

You can get some idea the 2nd hand prices from looking at HiFiShark. The 861 processor is very dependant on the cards you have installed

I hesitate to suggest that no-one playing at the 8K end of the gene pool is going to worry about market values but about getting a good deal. Perhaps you should do an eBay search for the items you want to sell and you will be able to tell how long they have been on for. An indication of priced too high and pitch yours a few percentile points lower. I would also suggest putting the price on the thread as well, as someone may make an offer.

Hesitated, yet still suggested... I'll try not to judge you quite so much for your hesitation; perhaps consider what's going on in other people's worlds before saying something... you never know...

Anyways, external observation: what seems to be a little different from a decade ago when I was last engaged would be a subtle shift from inside this forum and a little outside - asking the "experts" on values gets "go to eBay or Shark" which I know I can do... thanks anyways guys

Keep the 8K system, sell the M6 system; I feel you won't get what the 8Ks are worth and may regret it in the long run and typically if you then went to buy some 8Ks, they'd be a lot more expensive than what you got for your pair.

How are the dogs?

All the best,

Steve

Someone in the US was struggling to sell a pair of upgraded black 8000SEs on Audiogon for about 3 years. Finally the seller changed the listing to best offer, but not sure if he ever sold them.

It's a tough market- maybe keep them if you can.

hehehe the dogs are very well, maybe thanks! Although the Ridgebacks are definitely asking what they had done wrong to be brought back to Yorkshire :-)

I get all the guidance - but my life is changing these days, so maybe getting rid of the front of the cinema (8k's / 72HCSE and 861v8) may keep things clean - I don't even really have the space these days, so can bearly here them even if I wasn't going deaf :-(

Even with used prices tanking that could still be some cash bvack in the tank and keeping the 818 with the M6's and the DSW isn't too shabby... a lot of cash tied up in those 8k's and 72..... was my dream trinity when I got them back in the day - I know the world has changed but they're still incredible, just in a living room where I can almost touxh them derom rthwe sofa they feel a little over cooked these days! Don't get me wrong, I've loved absolutely every second with them...
