Does someone have connected to the Distributor via RS232 and send the command NV?

In other M products it returns the non volatile values of the setting. I am curious to know what are the settings options possible using RS232.

Maybe there is an option to make analog to digital output at 48kHz, this way I could use the DSP5k 18 bits as surrounds. Also maybe it is possible to turn on and off MHR.

I your case I would suggest the following

Firstly, connecting alle slave comms from the legacy speakers together. The choose and set one of the fronts to master speaker.

Make or buy if avaliable a Y split din (slave comms) cable where you can send the slave comms thru to the other speakers and have one exit left to feed a 218 with slave comms on the speakerlink in. (Make a cable from din slave comms to speakerlink comms (pin 1 and 2 on the rj45 side)

From that 218 you have 2 analoque inputs for the 18 bit surrounds. Take the speakerlink output from that 218 and connect it to the speakerlink input of the second 218. Connect the m6 speakers to the speakerlink outputs.

When all speakers are off, press clear on the remote, while pointing at the speaker to select it as a controller. Mostly the master speaker is used for that.

All speakers will be operating like the should.

For the input side of this:

Feed the first 218 with analoque input for the 18 bit surrounds (set output to 1x)
Feed the second 218 with the analoque input for the M6 rear position
Feed the zones for the Distributor with the corresponding analoque inputs and outputs to the surroundspeakers

You can't control the distributor so they all (3 units separately) need to be programmed once to be all sources analoque. This must be done via the control window and not via the legacy program. It is a seperate little program. You can leave the whole rs232 thing because it would not work. In your and my case the distributor is a A/D converter only. You can make the powersupply as fancy as you could but I really doubt it would make any major difference.

Thank you so much for the detailed information you provided.

My friend in California is already with the product, I hope to receive it in Brazil until the end of this month, so I could put your suggested setup in practice.

Do you feel any difference between using the analog to digital conversion of the 218 vs the same conversion made by the Distributor?

Cheers!

Hello,

No I don't, but I haven't tested it out in another configuration. The 8000's are connected via the 218 and the surroundspeakers DSP520 are connected via the distributor.

There are many factors on the soundquality. I have a 'cheap' Marantz Cinema 70s reciever who provides the analoque outputs, via the distributor, to the speakers. Sounds great. My main listening is music.

The front stage could be upgraded with a 818v3 but for now my budget is blown on all recent purchases.

Thanks for all the info and ideas.

I was thinking, does the Distributor 3 offer any kind of adjustment related to the sensitivity of the analog input? In 218, for example, you can select between 0.7 volts until 2.0 volts for the analogue input.

Thanks.
