Maybe a bit off topic but can't help you with the Meridian issue but envy you living near Vasse Felix, Howard Park & Leeuwin Estate. Personally I drink mostly Penfolds Bin collection.

I fully appreciate that imported electronics are significantly more expensive in Australia compared to Europe.

Even so, since the original posting, a Trinnov Altitude CI has been announced for release sometime in November this year - with an 'entry level' 7.1 configuration priced at £8,818 (UK).

That is a far better proposition than buying a used Meridian 861.

The caveat is that a Meridian 271 is a prerequisite for using Meridian DSPs.

I bought a brand-new 'open box' Meridian 271 which was significantly cheaper than buying at full retail. I've since come across a further two used 271s for sale via eBay.

I use a Marantz Cinema 50 with the 271 and they recently added Diract ART capability, earlier it was Dirac Live only.

Thanks Ian. Yes, we have it pretty good around here, Leeuwin Estate and Voyager are across the road, and Idee Fixee, Vasse Felix’s sparkling vineyard is next door.

Tucking into a lovely Voyager cab sav tonight whilst spinning some fine tunes on the new 218.

Cheers,
Jason.

Lounge: DSP5200SL (L-R), DSW, 218, Michell Tecnodec, G98DH, tape deck.

Shed: DSP3100HC mains with twin analogue subs, 568, MS200. This sounds waay better than it should.

Storage: Way too much Meridian stuff, but I'm culling.

The Leeuwin Art Design Sauvignon Blanc is perhaps the best I've ever tasted but a bit beyond my limited resources for everyday drinking. I tend to stick to the Penfold Bin reds as mentioned earlier. However, if I do need to venture to white, I will normally get either Cloudy Bay or a nice Pouilly Fume.
