There are some, if not many USB adapters that don't have the correct FTDI chips to work properly with Meridian. That is why I have always said that a Panasonic Toughbook or a Dell 600m laptop will save you hours of frustration, well worth their 2 to 3 hundred dollar price of admission. It doesn't really matter if they are running Windows XP or Windows 11. They just work, every time. Security or internet connectivity doesn't matter, bring the firmware in with a USB flash drive. If you are going to own Meridian equipment, it is one of the smallest investments you will make that will bring you almost as much enjoyment as the audio gear. JMO.
