Now I am having a very difficult time updating the speakers. I am using the Cisco blue DB9 to ethernet suggested by Carl and the usual Keyspan USB adapter to a Windows 10 computer. I was able to get to the "Erasing" part but it always errors after that. The speaker is currently bricked but I am able to get it into "loading" mode, it just always errors out before loading the firmware. I have tried changing the buad rate all over the place and that has not changed anything. I get what feels like every error under the sun from bad sector to incorrect identification and COM4 timeout.
I have seen others with this exact problem on the forum, but the solution was always "I just kept doing it until it worked". Any ideas of what I could change to get a better outcome? I have tried different USB cales. Two different Keyspans have been tried and two different computers.
These are the original 40th anniversary 8000SE's so I wonder if there is a problem with 3.16 firmware specifically.
