Does anyone use a Wiim Pro or a Pro Plus?
I was thinking the Plus may be overkill as the difference is in the DAC, where I would be using the Coax output instead. Mostly I'd be using AirPlay2 just for the sake of simplicity for everyday listening, with my TT doing the rest of the work alongside a media server with 24/96 audio in it.
The Possibility of just using the Wiim is also intriguing, does anyone do that?

Have/use a wiim Pro Plus in one of my Meridian systems. Overall i would say its Fine, the interface/usability is hands down fantastic. Tested the Wiim Direct into speakers, Connected to G91, G61RSL, 818v3, and G65. Coax was worse then optical, while coax to speakers sounded meh. quality was noticeably better with a better power supply (used an IFI plug switcher). Compared to my Cambridge audio MXN10, about the same cost as the Pro Plus + IFI, the MXN10 has better sound quality overall clearly. I did A/B testing (not blind) so i could switch back and forth between the sources. G65 sounded pretty close wimm vs MXN10 over optical, coax was very much worse on the wiim. The 808v6 sounded Horrible connected to the Wiim (optical), perfectly useable with the MXN10. DSP5200's (non SL) were resolving enough to show the difference between streamers. Went into the comparison thinking it was all going to be the same, but absolutely not, the differences were clear. Worse sounding = sounded like low res; music was missing. If you cant hear the difference in your system, the wiim is still a great product, but i will be replacing it with a better streamer in the future.

I use both Pro and Pro Plus. No complaints here, agree with functionality and if a non Roon user Qobuz (as an example streaming platform) is easy to navigate within the WiiM app. I use the Pro into a pair of 5k 18 bit DSPs via a Meridian 518. This is in a non critical listening system but exists to motivate me whilst I physically train at home. I think the Pro cost me £100 used, a safe box to try and would be easy to move on if not to your taste IMHO.

I have various WiiMs including the Pro and they are indeed very good directly driving my speakers.
But I have also found that the Eve Play is cheaper, but equally good, if AirPlay functionality is all that is really required. I stream Qobuz or BBC Sounds directly to this unit. I cannot discern a difference in SQ compared to the Pro or the Mini, even with the beefy linear PSUs that I have for them. It integrates nicely into the Apple Home systems, too.

I have a Wiim Pro Plus which I use to stream my ripped CD collection from my iMac 27. I use Cat 6 cabling to the unit and coax to the D2 in on my 808.5. The source is set to bypass my 861.4. I get no dropouts or network interference just a slightly lower sound volume, which good enough for background listening.

What will you be considering for replacements?
