Hi,

I'm streaming through Roon and a 218 and today I noticed my 7200SE's showing a display I've not seen before.

Instead of the usual MHR 88K when I'm streaming a ripped CD, I'm now seeing OFs 44K. I cannot now get the MHR 88K display to appear at all.

I've done nothing at all to change the way my system operates so what is happening? The MHR 2x option is selected on the 218's setup so I cannot understand why this is now showing differently to what it has always done prior to this point.
Any suggestions or advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Alan

It's been like this for a while (for me too).
Those are MQA files.

It can't be that, I don't have any MQA files. I'm playing ripped CDs at 16/44 and OFs 44k even shows on the display when I have the TV sound piped through the 218 to the speakers.

I'm curious about why there's been a change at all. I've done nothing to the system since I had the speakers rebuilt with SE boards two and a half years ago. The normal MHR 88 or 96 display was showing on all inputs until yesterday!

Maybe an "upgrade" from Roon or Tidal (or both) somewhere

I doubt it. I don't have Tidal and the last Roon update predates this new behaviour. There's something else going on here. If there was a power dip could that have brought the speaker back in an odd configuration with regard to how the display shows ... maybe it came up in a diagnostic mode?

Then I'm also curious how it happened.
I see it appear when an MQA track is played.

Indeed. I've spoke to my local hifi bods and they've said they'll contact Meridian to find out if they can get to the bottom of this.

I'm curious.
Also, how quickly Meridian will respond...

I've discovered the problem. My 218 glitched in some way. Something made me check it. All I did was disconnect the power for ten seconds and then plug it back in. I played a track at random and the 7200s showed the correct MHR 88k display again.
